The Trend Book.

I am very pleased with how my final trend book has turned out. I like the simplistic yet playful style of it. I believe it shows of my style really well with my own illustrative way of working.
The quality of the book also turned out really well, with an artistic look to the page texture. My chosen font is also 'very me' and shows off my eclectic style.
The trend book is a perfect piece of work as a whole for a later portfolio. Showing off the best of work for this project.

The project as a whole, allowed me to explore my own unique style and I have enjoyed being able to interpret it into a professional form.

Chosen pages for my trend book.

Chosen pages for my trend book.

I selected my favorite and most stand out designs throughout my journey, from my wall to my sketchbook ideas and onto my final and refined designs.

My concept for my book is a simplistic, playful and professional finish. My pages all flow with the same colour theme and placement. The images show off my style and trend in a way easy to understand.

Illustrating my wall.

Illustrating from my wall allowed me to understand my objects even more, by illustrating it in my own style. It showed me how they each relate to my trend.
It also instantly turns the objects into possible design ideas.
I like my placement of my illustration, instead of the wall placement, its more considered and links better.

'Eclectic'

Eclectic translated. I've shown my word as a selection of random and quirky objects. All collected from my bedroom, so immediately are in relation to me and my personality, displaying some of the things I like.

I really like the placement of these objects and think the photo stands out well on its own.

My style...

By thinking about what my style is and crossing it with my personality I was able to select a range of descriptive words which relate to me, and translated into perceptions of each word.

The words I think describe my work the most:

Eclectic

Detailed/Delicate

50's/60's

Tribal/Gaudi/Morrocan

I will take upon representing these words in my own way through objects and materials.

Colour Pallete translated.

Showing my colour pallete in an innovative way.

The hanging beads stand out as my colour pallete, reflecting my research into chunky tribal beads.

I created this elephant illustration which reflects the playfulness in my work and nostalgia.

WGSN inspiration.

Trend forecasts for Spring/Summer 2014.

They represent an Eclectic theme. Random but precious and interesting objects. All which become significant when placed in a new and contemporary place.

I like the use of colour and culture in both these trend images.

Top Drawer.

Top Drawer trade show bought an inspiring amount of up and coming and established designers and makers. The 'HOME' section was aimed at my style and tastes, with Wayne Hemmingway (interior above) standing out as something I was really drawn to. His playfulness and nostalgic style is my taste and my colour pallete is very similar to his in this Vintage collection at the show.

I found myself coming away with a list of new designers and some I'd never heard of, but adored there work.

Spring/Summer Pinned.

My inspirations interpreted onto my own space.

A collection of magazine cutouts and seasons trends which I have been drawn to. All very relavant and reflective on my own style and colours I work with.

I found the research very fulfilling and enjoyed looking through magazines and trend books. One which I found extremely helpful was 'Promostyl' trend books, they are full of future and past trends and were a good source of finding where a current trend has come from.

This board is a visual for ideas to be built upon.

Tribal Trend.

The 'Tribal' trend is very current in future trends for S/S' 13. I love the brightly patterned prints and vibrant colours, it brings a futuristic/graphic style into the trend which I will explore and build upon as a new trend.

The trend can be applied to many things, interiors, accessories, fashion and homeware.

A very personal trend.

Fresh start to the term with a new and exciting project brief. The brief is to set out and reinvent my very own new trend taking current and future trends as inspiration and for a collection of ideas to build upon.
Its all about colour and season and taking on a topic and expanding on it to eventually create a trend book of my journey and restyled trend.

I immediately knew I would start by looking at the Spring/Summer trend for its bright, floaty colours and patterns, similar to my own style and things I'm drawn to. My choice of colours within my work is very current in the S/S collections, from the past and for 2014.

I started by looking at a few of my favorite designers and built up a selection of collections and thier view on S/S trends.

Premier Visions outlook on S/S 2013 quotes that:

"It throws up joyful bridges between science and art, for a many-handed creativity"
